Much like the band Keane, The Fray has a line up that focuses mainly on vocals, piano and guitar. They began to gig and play extensively on the local scene and soon became hot favorites. Their demo recordings got considerable air time on local radio stations and soon The Fray was voted Best New Band by Westword Magazine. They soon landed a big label record deal and released their debut album How To Save a Life in 2005.

Since then, the music scene has been buzzing with the tunes of The Fray. The title track from the album featured extensively in the popular television series Scrubs. There is a touch of sophistication in their music that is heightened by their heavily emotional instrumentation and Slade's achingly poignant vocals. Their lyrics echo Countin Crows melancholic Americana while the rhythms and melodies remind listeners of U2. The Fray currently is all set to headline for legendary geek rockers Weezer on their United States tour.
