The three Irish Tenors are John McDermott, Ronan Tynan, and Anthony Kearns. McDermott is an an Irish Canadian. He recorded a group of Irish songs in 1995 for his parents' fiftieth
wedding anniversary; one of the copies of that tape landed with the EMI Music label, which instantly signed him to a multi-album contract.

Tynan has overcome the disability of two prosthetic legs and has won accolades for not only top finishes at various European vocal competitions, but also several equestrian championships. Kearns is a famous lyric tenor in Ireland who has also toured with the famous English Light Opera Company.

Finbar Wright replaced McDermott after he left and before the Irish Tenors toured in 2000. They released in 1999 an album titled Home for Christmas, in 2000 Live in Belfast, in 2001 Ellis Island, in 2003 We Three Kings and in 2004 Heritage. The founding member John Mcdermott replaced Tynan after he left the group in 2005 and then the group released in 2005 an album titled Sacred.
The Irish Tenors is a group comprising of three vocalists with individually distinguished careers who bonded together for a concert show at Ireland's giant Royal Dublin Society complex.

A sixty-piece orchestra accompanied the group which was well attended and was recorded for television. In March 1999 the broadcast of the concert during the U.S. television PBS network's fund raiser converted the three solo performers into a group.
The broadcast, with huge hits like "When Irish Eyes Are Smiling" and "Only Our Rivers Run Free," rode the crest of a new American Irish craze, and the trio was contracted for further recordings.
