The World Music Awards were established in 1989. They are the only and the most prestigious awards that honors the bestselling recording artists from each and every major country from all over the world. These are awarded for the highest record sales only. The awards are based on the sales figures on which the winners are determined and which are supplied and certified by the IFPI which is the abbreviated form of International Federation of the Phonography Industry. The awards are one of a kind which has no voting audience and no voting jury. Winners are determined by the record-buying public

The 2005 World Music Awards were produced by Marcor International Production and the executive producers were Melissa Corken, John Martinotti and Gary Pudney.
The World music awards are one of the most famous award functions to be on air. More than 160 countries and more than a billion viewers get an opportunity to see the awards on the television.
Destiny's Child, Mariah Carey, Bon Jovi, Stevie Wonder and Usher are a few of the most popular performers who performed during the show on the stage to add up to the lively festivity of the award function. It was broadcast on the ABC Television Network.
Patti Labelle, Babyface and Usher payed a string tribute to Destiny Child. Numerous other famous artist also performed on the award function like: Amerie, Alanis Morisette, Rhianna, Kid Rock, Stevie Wonder, Carlos Santana with Michelle Branch and Australian super star Delta Goodrem.
