Background:
ZZ Top, a rock band which had gained immense popularity in the 1970s and 1980s, and are from Houston, Texas. The band comprises of vocalist and guitarist Billy Gibbons originally belonging to Moving Sidewalks, bassist Dusty Hill of The American Blues and drummer Frank Beard of The Cellar Dwellers, The Hustlers, and The American Blues.
The band has a very distinctive look together with a distinctive guitar sound and hard-driving, innuendo-laced lyrics.
Two of the band members Gibbons and Hill have waist length beards and are always pictured wearing sunglasses and trench coats. In 1984, The Gillette company in 1984 had offered Gibbons and Hill $1 million apiece to shave their beards for a commercial, but they declined the offer as they were not interested in changing their famous image.
"Tres Hombres" album, which contained the classic song "La Grange" was the first album for which the band ZZ Top gained immense popularity. The classic song refers to the bordello that is the subject of the musical The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas. The band touched new heights when they released Eliminator in 1983. The album became so famous because its sale was boosted by music videos from the album of the tracks "Gimme All Your Lovin'", "Legs" and "Sharp Dressed Man" which featured a small bright red vintage coupe called The Eliminator and a mysterious group of beautiful women who travel around helping various people. ZZ Top were inducted by The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in on March 15, 2004.
