| Lucky Boys Confusion will be headlining Metro on Tuesday,
May 8th. This young quintet from Chicago's western suburbs headlining Metro is
nothing new: the band has been doing that since their single "Dumb Pop Song"
broke on Q101 last year. This gig, however, is the release of their Elektra Records' debut
entitled Throwing The Game. The Lucky Boys inked their deal last summer and have
been touring the U.S. regularly while recording their first release in L.A.
Lucky Boys Confusion formed in 1997 when
vocalist Kaustubh Pandav and guitarist/vocalist Adam Krier began writing songs together.
The pair recruited friends from other bands -- Joe Sell (guitar), Jason Schultejann (bass)
and Ryan Fergus (drums) -- and released a 4-song EP called What Gets Me High. From
day one, the band began playing out and building its following in the suburbs of Chicago.
1998 saw the release of the full-length CD Growing Out Of It, which included some
songs from their previous release along with new material. By this time Lucky Boys
Confusion was expanding their reach into the city and surrounding states, and selling
CD's. With this solid foundation, the band was ready when "Dumb Pop Song", a
track from Growing Out Of It, found its way into regular rotation on Q101. With
this added boost, The Lucky Boys were now legitimate headliners, filling the Metro and HOB
on a regular basis and attracting the major labels in droves. Growing Out Of It
went on to sell over 6,000 copies, completely independently, and the band followed with
another EP, The Soap Box Spectacle, in 2000. Throwing The Game, the band's
Elektra debut, was produced by Howard Benson (POD, Less Than Jake, Zebrahead) and is due
in stores on May 8th.
