The Rollins Band will be appearing at the Metro on
Friday and Saturday, March 1st and 2nd.

The Rollins Band
will be in Chicago for two shows at Metro on March 1st and 2nd. The
band spent most of February in Europe and is back in the States for a few stops, including
a charity performance at the Troubadour in LA on March 8th. These shows, along
with two East coast concerts, look to be the bulk of the bands US performances for
2002. The Metro dates will be a special treat for Rollins fans, as the shows are to be
recorded and filmed for a live album and concert film.
Henry Rollins is probably best known for
fronting The Rollins Band, which garnered some National attention in the 90s with the
album Wieght. However, the 41-year old has had a long and interesting career - some
might even call him a punk-rock Renaissance man.
Growing up in Washington D.C., Henry Rollins
performed with local hardcore punk bands and wrote poetry. Barely in his 20s, he joined
the influential punk band Black Flag and went on to release eight albums with the band
from 1981-86. During his time with Black Flag, Rollins began to perform and record
in the spoken word genre. After Black Flag called it quits, Rollins began his solo career,
but continued with the spoken word performances and recording he began years before.
The Rollins Band has enjoyed some commercial
success, with nine studio and live album releases since 1988. The band has appeared on the
Lollapalooza Tour and Woodstock 94, and were MTV regulars for a time in the
mid-to-late 90s. Henry Rollins has used his Rollins Band success as a launching point for
other projects, including publishing, acting, producing and his ongoing spoken word
releases. In 1994 Rollins won a Grammy for Best Spoken Word Recording for Get in the
Van: On the Road with Black Flag.
As of the time this article was posted, both
Metro shows were sold out. However, always check with the venue box office for current
ticket availability. For more information on Henry Rollins and all of his current
