Serious roots-rock band looking for talented key-boardist. Almost entirely original material--think Crowes, Stones, NM All-Stars. Lots of shows lined-up, and band is starting to get some recognition. We'd love someone laid back and easy to work with, but, again, we're looking for a very competent player. Practice 2x per week in NW 'burbs. E-mail dbuck74@hotmail.com for additional info.

By Chris on Thursday, June 16, 2005 - 11:28 pm:

What's Up?,
I recently just moved to Chicago and I'm wanting to start a cover band up to play at various bars and events in the Chicago area. In taking a job in Chicago I had to move away and quit my other band that was very successful. We covered such bands as Foo Fighters, Weezer, Sublime, Blink 182, Live, Velvet Revolver, No Doubt, Maroon 5, Gavin DeGraw, Silverchair, Nirvana, 3 Doors Down, etc. Basically what we played was '90's and current music. Looking to start a similiar band and wouldn't mind adding some classic rock to the mix like Zeppelin, Stones, Doors, etc. If the set list is tight, and people can get up and move to it, then I'm all for it.

I'm 24, and a guitarist, who is looking for other members who around my age. My set up is a Gibson Les Paul, Marshall JCM 800 and various effects pedals. Members would also obviously have to have live equipment. Here is what I'm seeking in either MALE or FEMALE:

Main Vocalist
Bassist
Drummer
Keyboardist
possibly second guitarist if no keys

I'm also a graphic designer and can do all marketing needed for the band. Not looking for the best musicians (although it can't hurt!) just people who are dedicated, willing to practice at least once a week, and want to play a few shows each month. Don't be shy to respond, I'm open to anything. Thanks for reading this far.

Rock and/or Roll,
Chris

Keys/Synth needed for new 80's cover band. We have guitar, male and female vocals already. We're looking to do the 80's music that the other cover bands out there right now aren't doing already. A few influences are Duran, Smithereens, Cure, Depeche, Go-Go's, Eurythmics. We're trying to avoid the 80's hair-band rock stuff and aim more for new wave and pop. We have experience and are looking to gig as soon as possible. If you're interested in knowing more, email to nanc7609@hotmail.com. Please indicate in the subject line that you're replying to this ad. Thanks!!!!!!!

I'm looking for dedicated and hard working musicians that want to make original music without the limitations of one particular genre. Telling me you did studio work or wrote for Barbra Streisand, or Toby Keith WILL NOT impress me I'm looking for musicianship and a professional attitude, not a fake resume. I'm 21 years old, from the west suburbs (Elgin area) trained in many instruments and vocal styles(including: guitar/bass, tromebone, piano, percussion, electronic music and production), and extremely commited to a life of music. Influences include: Tool, El-P, Incubus, RJD2, Aesop Rock, System, Elvis, NIN, Atmosphere, The Beatles, Aphex Twin, Led Zeppelin, Dr. Dre, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix and everything else.......

Church Looking for Piano/KEYBOARD player.

This is a PAID POSITION!! Checking us out. Even if you have not been in the church environment for a while, it's a good stepping stone for you to sharpen up on your worship songs before moving up in the big world! This is an "every Sunday" commitment so only serious persons need to respond. We rehurse on Sundays at 9:00am just before the service at 11:15am--the songs are simple.

We are looking for someone who can play by ear. Playing from chord charts is a plus but not required if you can play in most keys. ** NEW COVER BAND FORMING **

A new, exciting, young, energetic, talented, and experienced cover band is forming in Chicago. The goal is to be one of the top draws in the Chicagoland area. Our set list will be driven mainly by 90’s to current rock/pop hits (Green Day, Foo Fighters, No Doubt, Maroon 5, Weezer and many others) with some classics (Rolling Stones, Beatles, Lynard Skynard, etc). This is a brand new project being built from the ground up, so it’s still up in the air as far as set list. However, this is the general direction we would like to go. As of right now the band consists of a female lead vocalist, a lead/rhythm guitarist (myself), and a drummer. Here is what we are looking for:

· Bassist: Being able to play just bass is great, but being able to sing some lead/back up vocals is a huge plus.

· Second Guitarist: Being able to play rhythm/leads is great, but being able to sing some lead/back up vocals or play KEYBOARD is a huge plus.

· Keyboardist: This is up in the air. Someone who can play keys plus sing or play another instrument is a must. We would like to keep it a 5-piece band. A talented keyboardist can definitely add a lot of flavor to this band.

All three of us are experienced musicians and have been in previous bands. We are also between the ages of 22 and 25. Would like someone to join who is approximately in that age range. We do have practice space lined up and once we’re ready we plan on playing out from anywhere from 1 to 4 times a month. Practice will most likely be held 1 to 2 times a week. Male or females can apply. Please, no heavy drug users and dedicated musicians only. Must have professional/live equipment. This will be fun I promise and it’s always great to make a little money on the side doing something you love!

Rock and/or Roll,
Chris

Hi my name is Sumner.
I am forming the SumnerdouglaS band and you can get in on the ground floor.
Talented new musicians are welcome as well as are all female musicians who
could add a touch of grace and softness to our look and sound.
My music is all original adult contemporary rock and is highly Piano driven.
Our band will consist of me at Stage Piano and lead vocals,
Guitar- lead/acoustic, Bass, Drums and if capable,,, keys and Sax
My goal is to have an original Supertramp / ELO type of sound.
We are not going to be doing any Supertramp or ELO covers, just emulating their style.
If you happen to be a multi tool musician looking to use your skills this is your chance.
My songs work well with Violin, Cello, flute, extra-extra keyboards, Extra Percussion like bongos, rain sticks, Sound effects,,,fog machine lots of stuff going on.

I must stress though this band is not a cover band.
I do a very nice cover of “Easy” by Lionel Ritchie so please know that song.
But, all other songs will be SumnerdouglaS music. Sorry we wont be working on outside song concepts. We will have more than enough to work on with the music already written. Once we get the SumnerdouglaS music down,,, then we can round out our repertoire a touch with music by others. For now “ Easy” will do us well as for having at least one song that can be a standard that everyone can grooooove to.

I currently perform solo and/or with members of the
(Forty-Piece Choir) and (The Quilts) two hot Chicago Bands.
My Musical style and influence Is a strong dose of Supertramp combined with
Pink Floyd - Harry Nilsson - Lionel Ritchie - Cheech & Chong
I have 20-recorded songs including future smash hits as
Dusty Dirt Drive, Walking the Hi-Wire, Crazy Bou’t U, An Emotional Soliloquy,
My Eleven, The Girl from Peru, Something different in the world, Tiny Little Tear Drops

Just because I say I wont be asking for your song contributions does not mean I wont be looking for and very open to your musical input and knowledge on how to make the SumnerdouglaS music better. I am not stupid, all I am doing is bringing all the ingredients together and I will need your help making the recipe work.
We don’t have to tear the town up just yet. We can start slowly at first, maybe practice one day a week. After about 8 weeks we should start to become tight and will be ready for some shows and will ramp up our practice schedule as needed.

I have awesome friends in the music scene and will have shows to book at clubs like The Double Door, Abbey Pub, Lilies, Beat Kitchen, Günter Murphy’s
and much much more…
All this could be yours if the band is right…

As far as me, I am an attractive 40 year old strait-male. Divorced, with one son, he is with me one night on the weekend. I don’t drink but I like to smoke gonge with the ladies!
I am in the western suburbs Downers Grove Area.
Good nights of the week for me are all but Thursday.

'Non-working' band in the Naperville area looking for 'day-jobber' KEYS PLAYER (male or female). We are all day jobbers in the 35 to 45 age range. We have pro equipment, practice space and generally know what we are doing - (at least most of the time anyways).

We love to play for fun, backyard parties, local festivals and the like. Have guitar, bass, drums and vocals - just need keys to round it off. We are known for the wide variety of music we cover - from classic rock to contemporary stuff with a few rocking instrumentals in between.

This is the ideal band if you are balancing work, kids and music. We practice once a week in Naperville (schedules permitting). Would love to hear from you if you are interested.

New venture in Arlington Heights seeks keyboard player for pop and classic rock band. We're in our late 30's/early 40's, have good day jobs, and still have the urge to play festivals, parties, and the occassional club date. We have a rhythm unit of drums and bass, as well as two guitars and a female singer. Ideally, we'll rehearse twice a month (while doing our homework) and play out once or twice a month.

Male or female – you don’t have to be a Keith Emerson – this is more of a piano/organ/string and horn fills type thing. One good keyboard (the trusty M1, a Triton, Kurzweil, etc) will do the job. If you sing (lead or backs,) all the better.

Material? Everything from Petty, the Beatles, Mellencamp, Cheap Trick, Police, Steely Dan, plus newer bands like Matchbox 20, Bare Naked Ladies, and Fastball...plus whatever you enjoy playing. If the female singer works out, count on the Pretenders, Linda Ronstadt, Pat Benetar, Sheryl Crow, etc.

Got the itch to play in a band again? We have practice space, pro equipment - all we need is you!

Looking forward to hearing from ya...

"America's Pink Floyd" is looking to add to their lineup of musicians. We are seeking multi-instrumentalists and female vocalists to complete our goals of being the USA’s best tribute to “Pink Floyd”. Unusual opportunity for qualified
individuals with drive and professionalism. This is not a start up band.
Shows will be booked as soon as possible.

Multi-instrumentalists should be able to play Bass, Guitars, and Keyboards. (Stronger bass talents preferred, and vocals a plus).
Vocalist should posses quality “ear” and range. Recording experience is a plus.

As this is going to be a “Show”, we are very interested in entertainers that are professional and visual, as well as musical. Talent, equipment and attitude are
essential elements in our design.

If you are interested in pursuing this project and wish to get more information, please contact the members below to schedule an audition in the Madison, WI area within the next few weeks.

I have two different bands both in need of keys.

One is a working rock cover band, playing mainstream rock from the 60s through 90s, including Beatles, Stones, Hendrix, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Allman Brothers, 80s rock, some 90s rock, etc. This band has in the past played an average of four to six nights per month, averaging $100 per person per show. We rehearse when necessary (more in the beginning with a new member, then less often as we play more gigs) in Downers Grove. You can hear clips of this band at http://216.147.38.203/AdamSJ//band.htm I am the lead vocalist and lead guitarist. Our gigs are usually in the suburbs of Downers Grove, Naperville, etc., but we have played most Chicago suburbs and are willing to play anywhere.

My second band is just kicking off and its purpose is to play more challenging, musically cool and fun stuff, such as Jeff Beck, Danny Gatton, Joe Satriani, The Ventures, mixed with vocal (yet musically fun/challenging) stuff such as SRV, Allman Brothers, Eric Clapton, etc. I am a very advanced guitarist (I write music instructional books for the world’s largest music publisher, Hal Leonard) and the bassist is also quite advanced. We are auditioning drummers and keyboard players.

Interested in one or both projects? Contact me.

Do you still have the passion to play great classic rock and oldies from the 60's & 70's? Beatles, Beach Boys, Stones, CCR, Badfinger, Doobies, America. Classic rock/oldies band looking for new members.

Looking for keyboard player with vocal abilities.

Must be dedicated to weekly practices(in southwest suburbs). Playing out 2-4 times per month. No drinking, drugs, huge egos please.

Bandmembers are 40+, friendly and easy-going as well as committed to long-term. A great band if you are coming out of your musical retirement and have the itch to play again. For more info email your bio and interests and we will be in touch. zakrb@aol.com

By SLUSHBOX on Wednesday, October 12, 2005 - 11:32 am:

Greetings, all. I hope you will bear with me here, ‘cause I have a lot to say.

I work a day job. I want to make music. I want to play with people who don’t care about influences, backgrounds, egos, or anything else but the band. I want to play with sensitive people who know how to listen as well as play. I want to dedicate myself to the art and not worry about @%#& club owners and ••••••••. I want to feel the energy that we give to the crowd come back to us tenfold, and keep reverberating back and forth until the entire room is bursting full- have you ever felt that?

Does this sound anything like what you’ve been telling yourself lately?

I sure hope I’m not the only one out there who feels like there is room in his life for the art of music, but who would like to actually make music, not sit around and squabble and jerk off with some half-assed attempt at rock-stardom. That is like putting the cart before the horse.

I’m 32, play guitar, bass, hand percussion, have good vocals and am interested in meeting like-minded individuals (any instrument, & vocals) who understand that actual work and love of music is necessary for results in a band. My philosophy is “Less is Moreâ€, and when you let each instrument talk you get more than the sum of the band’s parts.

If you can feel me, then email to negearth@yahoo.com and we can go from there. Thanks.

I'm looking for a keyboardist for live shows and possibly for recording, depending on the chemistry. The music is indie-pop-rock with more chord changes than the usual fare. The parts would be notated, though I'm definitely open to personal/creative touches. If you don't read music we can work around that.

Backing vocals would be nice, but isn't necessary.

My past band was The Pindrops, for which I was the songwriter and lead singer. Some of the songs from that band will be part of upcoming shows as well.

The practice environment is professional, though pretty laid back.

Go to www.danwallacemusic.com to check out the music and, if interested, to get in touch.

Thanks,
Dan

Keyboards (part time) wanted. We're a 4 piece coverband looking for prof. keys to occasionally substitute for our keyboard player. We play mostly weddings and Corp.events, occasionally clubs/restaurants/festivals. We play lots of 60's and 70's, and a bit of older and newer music. You must play piano/organ AND the brass/horn parts prevalent in this type of music. Based out of N.W. 'burbs. The right fit may lead to permanent position. If you'd like to hear the sound we're looking for, I can email you soundclips. Thanks for your time. bassisboss@yahoo.com

WORSHIP LEADER LOOKING

i am looking to meet some musicians in the south suburbs to possibly help lead worship music at a lutheran church in orland park. currently it's just me on accoustic and the church loves it, but it totally limits me as to some of the stuff i'd like to do.

MUSICIANS WANTED: bass (most important), keys/piano (church own's a pretty nice yamaha), percussion/drums, and possibly electric. vocal ability would be a bonus! there is pay involved. not much, just enough to cover the gas, dinner and maybe a new set of strings once in a while. what i'd like to see is growing this into an outreach for youth functions and guest music in other churches. i promise this isn't your grandpa's church music. i like to try new styles, let musicians be musicians. please email me if you are interested.

God bless!

Seeking Piano and Organ Style Keys Player for Creative Electro-Acoustic Pop-Rock; Chicago, IL

In anticipation of the early 2006 release of his CD entitled Neon and Gold, Dan Wallace is looking for a skilled keyboard player for live shows, and to eventually work with in the studio. The style is pop-rock with some psychedelic, progressive and classical influences.
The ideal candidate would be equipped to play piano and organ parts as well as some synth parts. The ability to sing backing harmonies would be a huge plus. Hear song samples at www.danwallacemusic.com, though there are some songs in the set that use more piano/organ than these samples, plus you would be filling in for some of the additional instrumentation that is on the album. We built that website from scratch. We also recorded half of those tracks on the spot at practice. We both have a lot of experience and are fun in a band. We get things done and have good times. Keyboardist needed to join singer/songwriter/guitarist, lead guitarist, bassist and drummer in established, all original indie rock band.

Influences:
The Beatles, Blur, The Charlatans UK, Cheap Trick, Elvis Costello, Jellyfish, The Kinks, My Bloody Valentine, Oasis, Pavement, Pulp, Radiohead, Ride, Slowdive, Spiritualized, Superdrag, Super Furry Animals, Swervedriver, The Velvet Underground.

To date we've played several gigs in Chicago at places like Subterranean, Beat Kitchen, Gunther Murphy's, etc.

Our keyboardist will be leaving the band in June to pursue other interests so the slot would open around then.

We have rehearsal space in Chicago and practice once per week. Our new 5 song EP will be released later this month.

Our pace is "serious casual" - meaning we are not intent on "making it" - on the flipside we are serious about making the best music we possibly can.

Besides keys ability, these are "must haves" - 1) you can sing backup vocals 2) you have some songwriting ability - however don't expect this to be a "built in band" as a vehicle for your songs. If you want to introduce some of your material down the road, that's fine, but in the meantime you'd need to focus on learning our existing tunes. 3) You are not a flake and are able to and want to practice every week. 4) You have a good attitude, a good head on your shoulders and are easy to get along with.

Let's Start Something Good!!!

First a bit about my self, Max Demian here, 20 years old and I can send shivers down your spine, and I'm not trying to sound cocky or out there or Diva or Egotistical! (I promise). My straight-from-the-diary lyrics, the sudden screams and that sultry BOLD alto -- the qualities that make me seem raw and, to some, risible-- are also striking and awesome. I can be somewhat of a strange hybrid: I am undeniably a pop star, and also undeniably an indie rocker. On the pop side, I have what music journalist Simon Reynolds identified as "the power to compel your gaze, and when he gets it, those wet, penetrating eyes stare straight back. I know it makes me uncomfortable; why can't he just look at his feet and fumble with his mic and murmur his songs from a distance?"

At the same time, where most of our pop stars spring fully formed from the heads of their handlers, I remain a DI (mostly) Y, friends-over-money, F**k-the-man independent musician. I make mistakes, indulge my excesses (oh, "My Story", how close you were to a home run), and even shout my politics, inarticulately but without restraint, which is something that fewer and fewer musicians at my tier would have the guts to do their first time on an "AI Tour".

I would like to meet people who want to make music that is made to be loved, to be obsessed over by some but remembered by everybody, to get scratched and worn out through constant rotation in a sorority living room or your first studio apartment or your mom's old radio, to capture music-magic for the first time with more polish than spit, but still getting it deeply under your skin. Something fun, something cabaret, something rock, something soulful, something glamorous, something with edge, something mellow, something surreal, something uncanny something that falls into nothing, I don't want to become that artist who finds ugly meanings in things I find to be beautiful! Let's make some good music! :)

Guitarist, Bass, Drummers, and Pianist/Keyboardist hit me back!

Whether it was blaring one of the cd's from my large and very random cd collection, sneaking my way from the lawn into the pit of the weekend concert, or waking up the neighbors with loud guitar and late night inspiration, I have always shown signs of being a little overboard with my music enthusiasm. Growing up with an acoustic guitar and a piano in the house, I fell in love with process of expressing ideas and emotions through a good song (or just a lot of noise depending on your perspective). I live here in Chicago and have record, and played all out around the Midwest with a rock band called "Visceral Haze." after 2 years of making music together, we all have decided to go our separate ways and here I am.........still insanely in love with music and looking for others who feel the same! Would like to create something in the genre of acoustic, indirock.

Looking for Guitar, Bass, Drums and Piano. To start something! :)

Rock Bass Player/voacals and Rock Guitarist/vocals looking to get something cool going. Open to new ideas, open to merging or collecting new players. We are looking for Drummer, Guitarist, Keys and Singers. So basically anyone who is looking to get into doing something.

We are both pretty laid back and are eager to get something kick ••• going. We have a practice space, transportation, PA, drum kit, recording gear, our amp, axes and some gigs that we are set to play. (We are currelty playing with a sub drummer to fullfill these gigs, in the meantime on the side we are seeing what we can get going)

We practice Monday, Wedneday, and Saturday as a standard for right now. We are pretty flexible but we both work 9-5's, weekends are the best, but our jobs will not stop us from doing what needs to get done if the opportunity arrised. We are just not looking to be broke ••• in the mean time.

We would like to approach song writing on a song by song basis. Working each song as its own entie as opposed to writing a genre set of to fulfill some fansay self image. I think that the whole band should be involved with writing a song, it comes out more natural that way. The same with lyrics.

Bands I like a lot are.. Fugazi, QOTSA, Ministry, The Dead Kennedy's, Iggy Pop, MC5, The Creatures, Souixie, Boss Hog, The Misfits, Jim Caroll Band, The Gits, Luna Chicks, Naked Ray gun, Alice in Chains, Nine Inch Nails, Talking Heads, to name a few. I like rocking darkish vibes with a punky edge... Ned is about the same, we have our difference on bands we like and thats natural.

We have some samples of us jamming, we were just working on some new stuff. Check it @ www.myspace.com/atomicthunderlizard

With our old drummer in Jail we need to start looking to see what we can get going.

Triple Threat Band seeks keyboard w/ vocals

Greetings,

Triple Threat Band is starting their hunt for an experienced keyboard player with strong backing vocal ability to augment our 4-piece, "original rock + 70's-Current mix hits" lineup. Our myspace at http://myspace.com/mytriplethreatband
and web site http://triplethreatband.com/
detail where we are today as a guitar-driven piece. If you've been to festivals this summer and are thinking you wanna be part of that as
a mainstay gig scene for summer 2007, then you know the direction we're headed! Song selection is moving toward mainstream pop/party rock and that's where your addition will make it happen. We also have 3 CD's worth of our original rock material, and keys would be a welcome addition to our work in the original rock realm.

Time would involve an average of 2-5 weekend shows a month in the Chicagoland area (mostly suburban, though we dabble in the city all-original scene periodically), and usually a weeknight rehearsal
every other week at a band member's home in Skokie for adding new material and collaborating on new originals. Current members are splayed across Chicago, Gurnee, Elgin, and Skokie.
Jobbers, drunks, stoners, nutjobs, tortured artists, or those looking to make rent payments based on show income--while we're sure you're
all fine people--probably wouldn't be the best fit.

The ideal addition would be versatile across piano/synth/organ, harmonize very well, be free of active alcohol or drug addiction issues, but have an enormous network of fans/friends who come out indroves and run up ginormous bar tabs (hey, it's good for business!), double on sax and rock fiddle, and be able to hit John Ondrasik (Five
for Fighting), Steve Perry, Dennis DeYoung, and Sammy Hagar's vocal range yet totally devoid of ego.

Seriously though if yer a strong player and dig where we're heading, drop us a line and come drop by for a rehearsal to see if there's a fit.

By Slushbox on Sunday, August 20, 2006 - 09:34 pm:

Greetings, all. I hope you will bear with me here, because I have a lot to say.

I sure hope I am not the only one out there who feels like there is room in his life for the art of music, but who would like to actually make music, not sit around and squabble and jerk off with some half-assed attempt at rock-stardom. That is like putting the cart before the horse.

I’m 33, play guitar, bass, hand percussion, have good vocals and am interested in meeting like-minded individuals (any instrument, & vocals) who understand that actual work and love of music are necessary for results in a band. My philosophy is Less is More, and when you let each instrument talk you get more than the sum of the band’s parts.

If you can feel me, then email to slushbox@ameritech.net and we can go from there. Thanks.

Are You a Keyboardist? If So, We Need You

Keyboardist needed to join singer/guitarist, lead guitarist, bassist and drummer in established, all original indie rock band.

Influences:
Blur, Jellyfish, Cheap Trick, The Kinks, My Bloody Valentine, Pavement, Ride, Spiritualized, Oasis, Superdrag, Super Furry Animals, Swervedriver, The Velvet Underground.

To date we've played several gigs in Chicago at places like Subterranean, Beat Kitchen, Gunther Murphy's, etc. We have upcoming gigs scheduled at Martyrs' and Otto's.

We have rehearsal space in Chicago and practice once per week. Our new 5 song EP "Travelogue" was just released.

Our approach is casual - we are not intent on making it in the music business...but we are serious about making the best music we possibly can.

Besides keys ability, these are "must haves" - 1) you can sing backup vocals 2) you have some songwriting ability - however don't expect this to be a built in band for your songs. If you want to introduce some of your material down the road, that's fine, but in the meantime you'd need to focus on learning our existing tunes. 3) You are not a flake and are able and want to practice every week. 4) You have a good attitude, a good head on your shoulders and are easy to get along with. 5) You are not in this for the money.
