| Howard and the White Boys, the Chicago
blues band that has been together for some eleven years, has put out one hell of CD with
the release of The Big Score. What I like best about Howard and the White Boys is
that they can lay a groove a mile long and a mile wide, and they dont slick it up or
rock it out. No, this is not Kenny Wayne Sheppard or Jonny Lang, this is
Chicago blues and probably one of the best bands around doing it. Guitar players Dan
Bellini (who also plays a mean harmonica) and Rocco Calipari play their leads with feel
and a love for the blues. Howard McCullum on bass/vocals and Jim Christopulos on drums
work together hand in glove to give you that tight feel that is so important with blues
music. Also of note is that Buddy Guy plays and sings on the Sam and Dave classic
"Thank You". If you like blues, or if you would like to hear blues done
extremely well, then I think Howard & the White Boys new CD The Big Score is
the album for you.
