| The Blank Theory has put together a five
song CD that has some very nice moments, "Faded" and "Broken Glass"
are two of them. As I listened to Blinding Process I couldn't help but be
reminded of Dovetail Joint, another local band that released an excellent debut CD this
year on Columbia.
The members of The Blank Theory seem to have that good old
fashion work ethic. Since their first show back in May of '98, they have toured the east
coast which included a major label showcase, played throughout the midwest down to Austin
TX and apparently a west coast tour awaits. With that kind of dedication I'm sure big
things await this band but it's going to take more than Blinding Process for it
to happen. Now don't get me wrong, Michael Foderaro plays one hell of a guitar, Nathan
Leone has one of the better voices in town and as far as rhythm sections go, twin brother
Matthew Leone(Bass) and James Knight(Drums) are as tight as they come, laying down a solid
foundation that you can feel as well as hear. I just wish that the CD as a whole was
as strong as "Faded" and "Broken Glass". One thing I did like about
this band is that they never lost the melody, no matter how long the song was, and believe
me -oh yeah- this band can rock!
Like I said, big things await this band and Blinding
Process gives us a glimpse but not the big picture.
