Arizona Diamondbacks make their debut opening on 10th March, in 1998 against the Colorado Rockies for which the tickets were sold before even before the lunch. But, they faced a massive defeat from the world champions, White Sox, on 29th March in the same year. The Arizonians were defeated by 3-0, at the Bank One Ballpark, with more than 49,198 fans watching them defeated by the number one contenders, the Chicago White Sox.
In the year 2000, Randy Johnson and Curt Schilling earned the World Series MVP trophy after they were given the title of co-recipents of the World Series Most Valuable Player Award. Another event was celebrated when Luis Gonzalez hits the home runs No. 12 and 13, followed by a tie-up of Ken Griffy Jr. for most of the homers in the Major League history for the month of April. It was seen in the later year that Randy Johnson ties with the Major League record for his nine innings with a score of 3-3 with a 11 innings win, 4-3 of Diamondbacks.
2006 Season Preview:
The year 2004, brought a boosting to the team which contended in the NL West. The Diamondbacks, however, lost one of their members, slugger Richie Sexson, who suffered from a shoulder injury. It is said that Johnson was the main source who provided the Major Leagues top highlights of the season. This was done by planning out perfect strategies for the scheduled game in Atlanta on May 18th. The team performed outstandingly by striking out 13 hits. Soon, the Diamonds replaced their managers from Bob Brenly to Al Pedrique. But, in November, they made Wally Backman as their manager just to get back their contract. The team made a history by changing their manager for the fourth time, this time with Seattle manager Bob Melvin.
