The Chicago White sox are one of the most well-known American Baseball team. Initially, the Chicago White sox experienced lots of victories in their career. They also defeated the much favored Cubs in the 1906 World Series. It was a historic win for the White sox which is remembered even till date. Apart, from their last success, the Chicago White sox have been affected tremendously by the 1919-1920 Black sox scandle. 1917 World Series Champions ended up by paying compensations for their 1919 series flop.

The important players who contributed in winning the 1917 Championship included Shoeless Joe Jackson, Eddie Collins, Eddie Cicotte, Buck Weaver, and Happy Felsch. Astonishingly, the team had few sluggers such as Harry Hooper, Al Simons, Norm Cash, Larry Doby, and Dick Allen, who either got defeated by other teams or appeared for small matches in Chicago.

The only slugger on whom the team depends upon in the past years is Frank Thomas. The former is one of the best right-handed hitter in the history of franchise. His statics for the year 2000 describes him one of the best during the course of his prolonged baseball career, with .320 career average, a .573 slugging mark, and .440 as an OBP mark. With the kind of success he experienced, Frank was compared with some of the prestigious Baseball players such as Babe Ruth and Ted Williams.

It was only in the year 2000, when one of the best baseball team of America made a record in the American League by attaining victory over their division.

2006 Season Preview

It was last year when the Chicago White sox as a team, with full zeal and determination made the year historic by making a mark in the World Series championship.

The positive thing for the Chicago White sox for the current year is that, their long time slugger Frank Thomas has made an year long deal. The team also enjoys the celebration for their maginificent win in the 1988 World Championship during winters which is planned by their general manager Ken Williams. While, if we now consider the negative aspect of it is that though the white sox wanted him to lead the team as a captain, Paul Konerko has put his allegations on the issue.

Currently, the White sox has pulled up their socks for the World Series title this time. The team's manager Ozzie Guillen has put a thoughtful change in the order of batting, while affecting the two best middle infielders, Tadahito Iguchi (second baseman), and shortstop Juan Uribe. With plenty of new comers like Mackowiak and JimThome, the team has made a promising entry in the new year with excellent 16 wins in their previous 17 matches.

On March 1st this year the team starts with first game of Cactus League Action. The White sox would host Colorado at Tucson Electric Park. Till now they only have nine games in hand out of the Tucson area which has a stoppage at HoHoKam Park on 27th March. The champion team would also host the Cubs on Sat March 18th.
