Cleveland Indians, was formed on April 24th , 1901 has said to approach their 100th anniversary, to play continuously in one one city. It is a professional baseball team, based in Cleveland which is considered to be one of the city's oldest traditions which dates back to the 19th century and about to make an entry in the 134th year of 2002.

But, in the year 1885 campaign, Cleveland had dropped down from the N.L. However, the team was admitted to the major league American Association after the replacement of Pittsburg's team that shifted to the N.L. In the year 1890, Cleveland had two major league teams, one in the new Players' League. The P.L folded after the 1890 season, which led to the dismissal of the American Association leaving N.L as one of the biggest baseball monopoly.

However, the year 1897 was considered as the auspicious one because team member Louis Sockalexis came into being who was one of the baseball talents. He played just 94 games for the Spiders from the years 1897 to 1899. The new team comprised of Lajoie, Jackson, shortstop Ray Chapman, catcher Steve O'Neil, and pitchers Cy Falkenberg and Vean Gregg. The team raised a challenge for the Federal league, and hit hard with the loss of Falkenberg. Moreover, the Naps didn't make up the franchise record of 102 games in 1914 and finally it was a major disaster as Lajoie's time period in Cleveland came to an end.

Eric Wedge was named as a 39th manager on October 29th, 2002, which led the Class AAA Buffalo Bisons to the International League Finals in 2002.

2006 Preview:

Cleveland Indians opener C.C. Sabathia did not play Sunday night's game against the Chicago White Sox because of his strained right abdominal muscle in the third inning. This happened during the course of time when Tadahito Iguchi made an RBI single which led the Chicago's lead to 2-0.
