Oakland Athletics is one of the professional baseball team which is also a part of West Division of the American League (AL). The team was formed in Philadelphia, pennsylvania, and Kansas City. Apart from Missouri, the Oakland Athletics also play at the McAfee Coliseum in Oakland.

The team was originated in the year of 1901, and is one of the original American franchises. Founded in 1901, the Athletics are one of the original American League franchises. However, the team was led to win nine AL pennants and five World Series titles, by its owner Connie Mack. At the time Mack was the manager, the team had a lineup which included members like Frank Baker, Mickey Cochrane, Eddie Collins, Jimmy Foxx, Lefty Grove, Napolean Lajoie, and Al Simmons.

It was shortly after the team's second move in the year 1968, that the team emerged as one of the most powerful teams in the major league history. During this time, the Oakland Athletics were led by Sal Bando, Vida Blue,Bert Campaneries, Rollie Fingers, Catfish Hunter, Reggie Jackson, and Joe Rudi, under whom the team won three consecutive championships from 1972 to 1974.

2006 Season Preview:

The year 2006 showcases all the elements for the Athletics to prove their skills against Angles to pop into the first place. Oakland is supposed to have the best pitch in the league. And to add to their success, the team members such as Bradley and Thomas would prove to be an underrated offense this year. Probably this year, they could be more focused on the AL West crown and upcoming World Series for the team's manager Ken Macha.
