Come see some truly cavalier basketball played live on center court with tickets to see the Cleveland Cavaliers live! The Cavs are a team that have truly worked their way from the very bottom up and are now a serious team to contend with on the NBA circuit. Despite having some dubious distinctions to their name, the Cavs are a hard-working, hard-playing team that never let a game go without giving a good fight.
The Cavs hit the scene in the seventies as an expansion team and under the leadership of Bill Fitch, they chalked up their first dubious distinction of having a league worst record of fifteen wins and sixty-seven losses. However the Cavs were quick to rebound from this and in the '75-'76 season the Cavs clocked in a Central Division best record of 49 wins and 33 losses. Fitch was named the Coach of the Year. This would be a prime example of the playing mentality of the Cavs- though often falling to record lows, the team always manages to pull themselves up to record-breaking highs, thus reflecting the fighting spirit and effort of the team.
After winning the series against the Washington Bullets in a legendary set of games known as the Miracle of Richfield, the Cavs hit a rough spot in the eighties when a new owner made a series of bad trades, bad decisions and went through a spate of hiring and firing coaches. Things would only change in 1986 when the team came under the ownership of the Gund brothers, who acquired key players like Mark Price, Ron Harper, Brad Daugherty and Larry Nance. These core players would lead the Cavs to one of their best phases, going so far as the beat the Bulls in a few games. It was during this phase that the infamous match between the Bulls was played where Jordan landed a gravity-defying clincher hence known as The Shot. '91-'92 proved to be the Cavs' best season, chalking up 57 wins and 25 losses as well as advancing to the Eastern Conference Finals.
Again the Cavs would fall into another slump with the loss of Nance, Price and Daugherty. Unable to maintain a strong offensive play, the team began to move to a defensive tactic and soon became the most defensive team on the NBA, which unfortunately did not help when it came to chalking up the points. The team went on a steady downhill spiral until a young man called LeBron James was drafted in 2003-2004. Heralded by some as the next Michael Jordan, James breathed new life into the team and the Cavs look all set to accomplish big things
