This young, energetic and vibrant women team was one of the original eight franchises that started in 1997. This team was originally founded by Gordon Gund who at that time also owned the NBA's Cleveland Cavaliers. This women team soon rocked other teams with their lightening speed and fast acrobats. But their success was short lived as in September 2003; Gund formally announced that his Gund Arena Company would no longer operate the Rockers. This was a shock for everyone that's why the team was folded after 2003 season mainly due to no ownership for the team. Talking about their history the Rockers got their nickname to honor Cleveland's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

It all began in 1997 when players such as Isabelle Fijalkowski, Harlem Globetrotters and Lynette Woodard came together to play. But due to some mild problems they missed the 1997 playoffs. But in 1998 they bounced back winning by 20-10 and winning the Eastern Conference title. Soon they lost to the Houston Comets in the WNBA finals. In 2000 too they made the conference finals but lost to the New York Liberty.

Their uniform is white with water blue lines over the shoulders, and black with water blue lines over the shoulders on the road, with a basketball-shaped guitar and the name Rockers.
