Are you ready to catch the very latest in cutting edge basketball? Then you need to get yourself tickets to see the Los Angeles Clippers live in action! Formerly viewed as the team that didn't stand a chance, having to hold its own against the Los Angeles Lakers, a basketball powerhouse, the Clippers have improved so drastically that it has taken the NBA by storm!
The Clippers began life as the Buffalo Braves and hit the courts in 1970. The team had the usual kind of start in the NBA, averaging season scores of around 22 wins and 60 losses. The team failed to make any lucrative acquisitions in terms of players and the Clippers wouldn't make the playoffs until the '73-'74 season. It wasn't long before the Clippers found themselves in the midst of a complex bidding scheme, the outcome of which was that the Clippers were shifted to San Diego in the '77-'78 season and were re-named the San Diego Clippers.
Things started out well in San Diego with the Clippers clocking in a winning season record- unfortunately it would the last for the next 13 years. Unable to find a good groove among the team and dogged by injuries, the team failed to make an impression on the courts. More changes were in store for the team when it was sold yet again during the '81-'82 season and was relocated to Los Angeles.
This was an extremely intimidating move for the not-yet established team- after all, Los Angeles was already home to one of the NBA's heavyweight teams, the Lakers. Things started out shakily for the Clippers as they rang up a record for having a season worst record. The team was plagued with good players with bad injuries. It was at precisely this time that Elgin Baylor entered the scene, recharging the team with fresh new trades and a new coach that helped bring the Clippers their first winning season in thirteen years and their first advancement to the playoffs in sixteen years.
However the problems didn't go away completely- the Clippers' '94-'95 season was without a doubt their worst season to date- along with the Lakers, the Clippers pulled up a disappointing season record and failed to make it to the playoffs. In order to remedy this, more shuffles and trade-offs took place. Still, the team could not get a working chemistry together within the team and their games suffered as a result.
It was only during the '04-'05 season that things picked up for the Clippers with a marked improvement being noted by many sports magazines in 2006. The team would go on to win their first playoff game and the team's popularity soared, finding high level fans in actors Billy Crystal and Frankie Muniz.
