Get your tickets to see some trailblazing basketball burn up the courts with tickets to see the Portland Trailblazers live in action. This is not only a team of trailblazers; they are a team of champions, risk takers and great b-ball players. Despite having a checkered past of sorts, the Trailblazers are an important team to contend with in the NBA.

The Trailblazers hit the courts in 1970 as an expansion team- the team distinguished itself as one that could play some serious basketball and seven years later, they would proudly carry the NBA championships to Portland. The Trailblazers have been in Portland since the day of its inception. The Trailblazers have always given the opposing team a run for their money, playing hard-hitting basketball on a steady basis that has regularly seen them to the NBA playoffs.

The team has also had its share of players that have gone on to be key members of the NBA- the Trailblazers boast of Hall of Famers like Clyde Drexler, Bill Walton and Lenny Wilkens and has also had its roster graced with such names as Scottie Pippen, Damon Stoudamire, Bonzi Wells and Jim Paxson.

The Trailblazers were sold to Paul Allen in 1988 and 1990 and 1991 witnessed the presence of this smoldering team in the NBA finals. However the Trailblazers were beaten both times by the Detroit Pistons and the Chicago Bulls respectively.

1996 marked an interesting phase in the career of the Portland Trailblazers. In an effort to bring some fresh, aggressive talent to the team and give it a booster shot of sorts, general manager Bob Whitsitt began to rebuild the team using a questionable, if somewhat novel method. He began to fill the roster with some very talented ball players who were also known to have bad attitudes and in some cases criminal records. Needless to say this decision was very unpopular but the team did manage to do remarkably well, making it to the Western Conference Finals in 1999 and in 2000.

Despite this marked improvement in play, the off-court antics of some of the players began to out-shine the playing abilities of Whitsitt's new team. The local community made their displeasure greatly known and the team acquired a new name- 'The Jail Blazers'. Whitsitt stood behind his team and supported them as much as he could but a spate of embarrassing off-court incidents did not help matters. After failing to make it to the playoffs and a marked decline in ticket sales, Whitsitt resigned and the team was shaken down. The current roster contains brand new talent and most of the Jail Blazers have disappeared.

The Trailblazers have in fact had a rough start with their new team, bumping up an NBA worst record in 2005-2006 but it is widely agreed that the team holds immense promise and it won't be long before the Trailblazers will be burning into the finals yet again.
