Though a number of his decisions were initially criticized, the team pulled off an unimaginable feat of beating the Chicago Bulls, even though they were only a year old.

The Raptors soon had an impressive win record and the results were shown in audience reaction- suddenly local fans were taking notice of the Raptors and many sports analysts predicted that the Raptors could be strong playoff contenders, even finalists in the near future. But that road was a bumpy one- almost immediately the team was plagued with injuries and fans became discontent with the team's dismal performances.

During the '98-'99 season a number of changes were instigated, putting in more experienced players and shuffling around the playing order, a move that would prove to be highly successful. The team did not make the playoffs but they had improved their game dramatically. The new millennium saw the rise of a new star Vince Carter, who would prove to be a huge draw for the fans. The team became strong enough during the 2000-2001 season to be serious competition for the Philadelphia 76ers- though the game was narrowly lost, it was seen as one of the highest points in Raptor history.

The following seasons would show a fluctuation in performance- at times the Raptors put on a great show in terms of play but they were also dogged by injuries and highly criticized trades. Today the team still goes strong, thanks in large part to their fan base that has increased in leaps and bounds and is anxious for a win. Though the Raptors are still a very young team, they are well on their way to clinching a championship victory in the future.
