Since its debut in 2001, the Chicago Rush has made the playoffs every year. Credit goes to the players of the team who have been constantly showing great performance. The Chicago Rush showed their capabilities in their first match itself. In the team's debut year in 2001, the Chicago Rush defeated the mighty Orlando Predators 41-26. Eveyone was shocked. However, the Chicago Rush lost the next match 53-21 against the Grand Rapids Rampage. The Chicago Rush captured the 2002 AC Central. They defeated the Dallas Desperados 60-47 but lost to the Arizona Rattlers 46-35.

The 2003 season was not at all satisfactory for the Chicago Rush players. They performed poorly and fell in the first round itself. The New York Dragons defeated them 48-45. In 2004, the Chicago Rush players won 11 matches out of 16 matches. Their performance helped them seal the 2004 AC Central. In 2005, the Chicago Rush entered the AFL playoffs as the #3 seed. They defeated the Los Angeles Avengers 52-45 to capture the first round. But Colorado Crush defeated them 49-43 to chuck out them from the tournament.

The 2006 season was more of a drama for the Chicago Rush team. Despite a losing record of 7-9, they reached the playoffs as an AC Wildcard. In the playoffs the Rush players pulled of key upsets. In the Wild Card round, they defeated the #4 seed Nashville Kats 55-47. The defending champion Colorado Crush was also defeated by the Chicago Rush 63-46 in the Divisional Round. The Chicago Rush players also manged to defeat the #2 seed 59-56 to win their first Championship title in the history of ArenaBowl Championship tournament.
