It's time to bear down and catch some really wild football action with tickets to see the Arizona Wildcats live on the field. The Wildcats have always lived up to their name, fighting tooth and nail with a spirit and drive that always leaves the other team catching their breath. From the look of things, the Wildcats seem all set to tear things apart on the football field this season.
The Wildcats football team belongs to the athletic program of the University of Arizona. The name Wildcats was used way back in 1914 in a football game, where one newspaper said that the team showed the fight of wildcats- the name stuck. The team proudly sports the colors red and navy blue and have a wildcat mascot called Wilbur. Wilbur recently married his wildcat girlfriend Wilma and the pair is often seen at sporting events with the cheerleading squad. The Wildcats currently share a spirited rivalry with two teams, the Arizona State University and the University of California.
The Wildcats are a relatively old team, starting out way back in 1899 as a team called Varsity. It is well known that the Wildcats had their best run by far under the coaching of Dick Tomey during the nineties. A big reason for this success was the coach's unique brand of defensive play which was dubbed 'Desert Swarm', and it is well remembered for its extremely tough and hard-edged tactics. In 1993 the team pulled in their first-ever ten win season and went on to beat the powerful Miami Hurricanes in the Fiesta Bowl with an impressive score of 29-0. They would also post a school record of 12 wins and 1 loss in 1998.
Today's Wildcats team is no doubt a talented one loaded with potential but it is no secret that the team needs to work on being more consistent. Of late, the Wildcats have had a wildly fluctuating game history, giving UCLA a royal pounding in one game and then falling to a rather ignoble loss to Washington. This cannot afford to happen and Coach Stoops is taking a very hard line in maintaining consistency as far as performance is concerned. He is also improving the team's offensive line-up which has been a matter of some concern, due to the fact that it sometimes gets bogged down. Though the defense is doing a pretty good job so far, the team needs to pull together to make it happen in the high-powered Pacific Ten Conference.
There's bound to be some gritty action on the field as the Wildcats come back with a bang to reclaim their old glory. Make sure you're there to cheer them on- contact your online ticket vendor now and order your tickets to see the Arizona Wildcats in action!
