If you are looking for tickets to see a premier football team that has surpassed itself in terms of game improvement, going from absolute bottom of the barrel to National champions, then look no further than tickets to see the Baylor Bears live on the field! These bad boys from Baylor play their game from the gut, putting on a fascinating display of grit and determination that intimidates even the most experienced teams on the field.
The Bears are the football team for the Baylor University athletics program and they have the distinction of being the only private school in the Big 12 Conference league. Prior to this, the Bears were part of the Southwest Conference league and have carried over many of their rivalries from that league over to the Big 12. Most notable among these are the Texas twins, Texas A&M University and the University of Texas. Their colors are green and gold and they have a bear for a mascot named Judge.
The football fever hit Baylor University in 1899, where they won ten out of fourteen games over their first three years. In an unfortunate turn of events, football was banned from the university in 1906, with the students ceremoniously burying a pigskin to commemorate the decision. Football eventually made a return to Baylor and the football team quickly made up for lost time and soon had a very impressive winning percentage of .608. Though the Bears did exceedingly well while in the Southwest Conference, their entry into the Big 12 was hardly that and the team were certified bottom feeders until a new coach named Guy Morriss came and changed things around.
After beating heavyweights Texas A&M in a close game, the Bears went on to chalk up some memorable wins under the hand of Morriss, most notably raking in a Big 12 win. However the Bears' and Morriss' biggest victory would come when the team gained a smashing shut-out victory against one of the most intimidating teams Kansas State. And it was no small victory- the Bears trounced Kansas 66 to nothing. Prior to this game, the Bears had already chalked up wins against SMU and TCU but this game really showed the Bears at their best. Of course most of this credit goes to Morriss who single-handedly took a team that had a 3-9 record in 2003 and made them National Champions in 2005. Many pundits strongly believe that if the Bears can maintain that level of play for the coming season, the Bears will undoubtedly be one of the most powerful teams in college football history.
