The Buffalo Bulls football team is affiliated with the University of Buffalo athletics program. The team has two mascots; one is Victor E. Bull who is blue and wears a gold nose ring. The other is his sister, Victoria S. Bull. Despite having a record that is perhaps not the strongest, the Bulls are one team that is always raring to go and ready to put in their very best. They have the heart and spirit of a winning team and in the end, that is what is really important.
In 1977, football returned to the University of Buffalo after a gap of seven years and the team was immediately off and running. Their first game was against the Rochester Institute of Technology and the Bulls played some fine, spirited football despite the heavy rain and slippery conditions. Though that particular game ultimately ended in a tie, it helped to boost the morale and confidence of the Bulls as they embarked on an uphill task of finding their groove in a field that they had been absent from for a long time.
It was no easy task- in fact both the men's basketball and football teams of the University of Buffalo were not at their strongest but while the basketball team began to show some promise, the football team continued to struggle to find themselves. Last season was particularly dismal as the Bulls chalked up only a solitary win, after which the then-coach Jim Hofher was fired. But now many feel that a new era has begun in the story of the Buffalo Bulls.
In 2006, a brand new coach was brought in named Gill Turner and he made it very clear that he was here to turn the team around. Coach Turner has already got his game plan down and he certainly isn't shying away from grueling touring schedules either. The current Bulls team has an enormous amount of talent but they also have much that they need to work on. With Turner at the helm, fans can surely look forward to some improved football and even some big wins in the future season.
