If you are looking for tickets to some heart-stopping college football action, then you need to get your tickets to see the Central Michigan Chippewas play some live football! The Chippewas are always a team that delivers a great game of college ball that is played with characteristic grit and guts. A team with a strong fighting spirit, the Chippewas always plays football with a bit of a bite, making the action all the more exciting.

The Chippewas football team is affiliated to the athletics department of the University of Central Michigan. Their colors are maroon and gold and instead of a mascot, the team has a stylized logo that has undergone a number of changes over the years. Initially, the logo consisted of an Indian spear but now that has changed to a stylized interpretation of the block letter 'C'. Within the University the logo is either referred to as the 'running C' or the 'flying C' when in actuality it is called the 'action C'. The logo was recently updated in 1997. The Chippewas also have three very rousing songs that can be heard at their games; these include the CMU Fight Song, Hail Chippewa and CMU Alma Mater.

Recently, the team came under fire for the use of the word Chippewa in their name. The team name is often referred to as the Chips and has been used with the permission of the local Saginaw Chippewa Tribe. The University maintains a positive and friendly relationship with the tribe and the tribe themselves have said that they are proud to have such winning teams sporting their name. Still, in August 2005 the University was placed on a list drawn up by the NCAA of schools with "hostile and abusive" nicknames. With the support of the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe, the University successfully appealed and won the decision to keep the name.

The Chippewas seem all set to tackle the coming season though they do have a number of issues they need to address, the most pressing being that of quarterbacks. The Chips were lucky enough to have Kent Smith, one of the most productive quarterbacks in the Conference with them last year but exactly who will be replacing him is not yet clear. In the running are Brian Brunner, Duane Brooks, Dan LeFevour and Charly Molnar. However Coach Kelly has made it quite clear that each of these contenders will have to prove themselves in live action games before they can be selected. A number of players have made a positive impression during the spring drills and Jemmy Jasmin who was out with an injury last year will be ready in the fall.
