Are you ready see one of the most exciting teams on the college football circuit today, a team that is not only currently sitting pretty at the top of the rankings but also has a rich and unique history attached to its football program? Then you need tickets to see the Clemson Tigers roar into action with their classic Tigers brand of football. The Tigers come from a tradition of champions, with an impressive number of conference titles and bowl wins to their name.

The Clemson Tiger football team is part of the Clemson University athletics program. The team colors are orange and north-western purple and their mascot is a tiger. This mascot and the tradition of football itself in Clemson was brought in by Walter Merritt Riggs in 1896. The Tigers are without a doubt one of the most powerful teams on the field today and they have a steady history of winning behind them. The Tigers have no less than 13 conference championships to their name, 2 southern conference titles, 1 national championship and an astonishing 15 bowl victories. Their 1981 line-up is considered by many to be the best so far, winning the national championships and clinching the number one spot in the Associated Press and Coaches polls. The Tigers have a long-standing rivalry with the South Carolina Gamecocks- though this rivalry extends to other sports as well it is most prominent in their annual football game.

One of the things that makes Tigers football so unique is the many traditions and legends that are attached to it. Perhaps the most striking is that of Howard's Rock and Running Down the Hill. Howard's rock was given to Coach Frank Howard by a friend from Death Valley. It is placed on a pedestal on top of a hill and before each home game the players go to the top of the hill and rub the rock. Then, in what has been dubbed as the 25 most exciting seconds in college football, the team runs down the hill and onto the field. It is one of the most celebrated sport entrances and oddly enough, there is no special story attached to this. The practice began because many years ago it was the quickest way to the field. However, the rush that fans feel when they see the team assemble on the top of the hill and come roaring down is so powerful that the tradition has stayed.

The current line-up of Tigers is a very promising one and looks all set to keep up the winning tradition that the team has. No doubt they will be looking to clinch not only conference wins but also the national title as well this season.
