Come get your tickets to see a real-life miracle story live on the field, a story of a team that went from rock bottom to the very top under the hands of one very special coach- come get your tickets to see the Colorado State University Rams battle it out on a field near you. It would be safe to say that a few years ago the Rams would have been an extremely safe bet for a losing team. Unable to find their groove for many years and clocking in unimpressive season records time and again, it looked like nothing short of a miracle would ever turn the team around. That miracle finally came and now the Rams are one of the hottest teams on the circuit, with conference titles to their name and a definite bid for the nationals in the offing.
The Rams football team is affiliated to the athletics program of the Colorado State University. Its colors are green and gold and its mascot is Cam the Ram. The Rams share three spirited and intense rivalries. The first is with nearby Colorado University who they take on in a game that is known as the annual 'Rocky Mountain Showdown' or Centennial Bowl. The Rams also share a rivalry with the Air Force and battle it out with them for the coveted Ram-Falcon Trophy. The final rivalry is shared with Wyoming and this is often known as the Border War. The game occurs every year over the Bronze Boot and is the second oldest interstate rivalry.
The fortunes of the Rams really took a turn for the better when coach Sonny Lubick took the reigns of the then-faltering and struggling Rams team in 1993. At that point in time, the Rams had been playing for over a century and had nothing to show for it save two bowl game invitations. In the past twenty years they had raked in six solitary winning seasons. Needless to say the prospect of picking up this team and making them worthy contenders was a task within itself. But Lubick took it one step further and turned them into winners. During his tenure, he has done more for the Rams than any other coach in the university's history. Rightly so, he is considered one of the premier coaches in the country.
From a team with just two bowl entries to their name in a hundred years of play, Lubick transformed the Rams into a team that got seven bowl invitations in ten seasons, more than any other MWC team. The Rams won six conference titles and had more wins since 1994 than any other team in the MWC. Today, the Rams are one of the top fifteen teams in the country.
