The first two conference titles were won in 1917 and 1919. Over the years the team got the right to join 22 NCAA basketball tournaments. The school reached the Final Four for four times, the Elite Eight 11 times, and the Sweet Sixteen 16 times.
Kansas women's basketball team began intercollegiate competition in 1968. The team is among the top 15 all-time winner programs in the NCAA. The Kansas team reached the Sweet Sixteen 9 times and Elite Eight twice. Kansas State was crowned champion of the Women's National Invitation Tournament in the year 2006. Kansas football team began playing in the year 1893. The Kansas team won the Big Six Conference championship in 1934. The team could not make it to any fabulous performance.
