Miami's main rival teams incorporate University of Cincinnati called - the 'Battle for the Victory Bell' and Ohio Bobcats called- the 'Battle of the Bricks
The original bell hung in Miami's Harrison Hall was used to ring in Miami victories. The present trophy is a copy of the original bell and is kept in the control of the successful team each year. One side of the bell is stained red and black and indicates Cincinnati's victories and the other side is red and white showing Miami's victories. The Battle of the Bricks refers to an annual sports competition between the Ohio Bobcats and the Miami Red Hawks.
The Mid-American Conference's third all-time winningest men's basketball coach has signed a three-year contract extension. Miami University head men's basketball coach Charlie Coles is set to guide the RedHawks through the 2008-09 season, Miami University Athletics Director Brad Bates announced.
