The Office of Intercollegiate Athletics at Morehead State sponsors eight men's programs, eight women's programs, and one coeducational program (rifle). All sports compete within the OVC at the Division I level except football, which competes at the I-AA level in the Pioneer Football League. MSU Athletics programs for men include baseball, basketball, football, cross country, indoor and outdoor track, golf, and tennis. Women's programs include basketball, cross country, indoor and outdoor track, soccer, softball, tennis and volleyball.
MSU has won the prestigious Ohio Valley Conference Academic Achievement Banner six times (1986-88, 1992-94, 1998-99 and 2004-05) The Morehead State volleyball team is back at full strength in 2006 and ready to compete for an Ohio Valley Conference championship. Don Hansen's Weekly Football Gazette picked the Eagles third, while The Sports Network ranks them 10th.Kristal Menard, a three-time All-Southeastern Conference honoree at the University of Mississippi and a two-time All-Region award winner, has been named the new assistant soccer coach at Morehead State.
