 Full Background

The Aggie Club is the principal fund raising arm of North Carolina A&T State University Men’s and Women’s Athletics. Made up of enthusiastic and loyal A&T supporters, Aggie Club funds assist the operating budget of A&T’s 16-sport program in such areas as scholarships, academic services, sports medicine operations and student-athlete facilities used for study, nutrition, and strength and conditioning. Membership in the Aggie Club has continued to increase and annual gift commitments have continued to grow each year.

Aggie Club members receive season ticket priority for all season-ticketed sports -- football, men’s basketball, women’s basketball. They also receive hospitality area access, tailgating privileges at home athletic events, invitations to athletic functions and banquets. Jerry Eaves begins his third season as head coach at N.C. A&T, after several stints on both the collegiate and professional levels as an assistant. He is in the midst of a rebuilding program that started with him taking over a program that returned just four players who averaged a combined 13.1 points per game from a team that finished with one win.

In year No. 1, he took those players along with some late additions and won three games. Last season, he showed more improvement by winning five home games and breaking a 32-game road losing streak. Eaves’ rebuilding efforts look to take more progressive steps as he enters the 2005-06 season. The NCAA Women's Basketball Rules Committee has appointed Debbie Primeaux Williamson as secretary-rules editor. Williamson, currently a lecturer in the physical education department at North Carolina State University, brings more than 25 years of experience in collegiate athletics as a student-athlete, coach, administrator, official and instructor.

The NCAA Centennial is a yearlong celebration of the student-athlete. The celebration began in January 2006 at the NCAA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, and will continue throughout the year. NCAA member schools, conferences and communities will play vital roles in the celebration by participating in special events in conjunction with NCAA championships and campus and community events that commemorate 100 years of the student-athlete.

As part of the Centennial celebration in 2006, ESPN will air two one-hour programs highlighting the 100 Most Influential NCAA Student-Athletes. The network has also produced and aired 25, 30-second vignettes drawing attention to the "greatest moments" in NCAA history.
