Texas Longhorn are the famous sports teams of prestigious University of Texas situated at Austin. These teams going by the name Texas Longhorns famously take their name from the impressive Longhorn cattle that incidentally were a very important part of the all round development of the Texas region. They currently are acknowledged as the official "large animal" for the State of Texas. The renowned University of Texas located at Austin is the primary institution of the famed University of Texas System. Their football team has always been a great draw at the NCAA football events and their matches are known for their huge crowd turnouts. In difference to its breadth of sports offered at the institute and the sterling quality of the different programs, it has been honored as "America's Best Sports College" after a complex analysis performed by Sports Illustrated in the year 2002. It now competes successfully in the Big 12 Conference events of the prestigious NCAA's Division I-A. The colors the school sports are officially bright Orange and White, along with Burnt Orange sometimes referred. At football games, we can find students frequently singing "Texas Fight", the University's perky fight song, while regularly displaying the legendary Hook 'em Horns quick hand gestures.
They also have a Longhorn Band that incidentally is known as the "Showband of the Southwest." The mascot is quite expectedly a Texas longhorn named Bevo. The football team of University of Texas has always traditionally been considered a football powerhouse. It has the distinction of having four national titles including one in the last season. The team was at its best when they were coached by the legendary Darrell Royal. During that period they won three National Championships in the year 1963, 1969 and again in the year 1970. Two remarkable Texas Longhorn running backs have managed to win college football's highest honor namely the Heisman Trophy. This included Earl Campbell in the year 1977 and the brilliant Ricky Williams in the year 1998.
