It's time to get your tickets to watch some real NHL royalty take to the ice and play some hockey that is truly fit for kings- come get your tickets to see the Los Angeles Kings live on the ice. The Kings have built a reputation for being one of the hardest-working teams on the NHL circuit, consistently battling it out in the playoffs and playing with a never-say-die attitude, no matter how big a team they are up against.

The Kings are based in Los Angeles California and sport the colors black, silver and purple. The birth of the team was inevitable- despite being in the lap of surf and sand, Los Angeles was extremely successful in the minor hockey leagues during the sixties. There were many Canadians settled there at the time and so enthusiasm for the game was not lax either. The only thing that Los Angeles couldn't offer was a proper arena to house an NHL caliber team.

In 1967 the NHL decided to expand and an entrepreneur immediately put in his bid for a team in Los Angeles, promising to build an arena for the team. The bid was accepted and that same year the Kings played their first game, defeating the Philadelphia Flyers 4-2. In the meantime, efforts were being made to popularize hockey in Los Angeles. This included a fabulous new arena for the team as well as the popularizing of nicknames for the players. The Kings did well for themselves until poor management initiated some terrible trades and a slump in play.

Things turned around in 1972 and the Kings definitely played better but couldn't seem to advance much in the playoffs. A killer line up known as the Triple Crown came into play with some of the Kings' best players but even they couldn't seem to pull the Kings out of their rut. However the Kings did manage to play one of the most memorable matches in NHL history, known as the Miracle on Manchester when the Kings took on the powerhouse of the Edmonton Oilers and won.

In 1988, the Kings made an important trade and acquired Wayne Gretzky from the Oilers, thus starting a new era for the Kings. Helped by strong players like Robitialle, Gretzky helped the Kings play some of their best hockey till date. He was also responsible for the surge in popularity for the game that occurred in California.

Though the Kings have still not been able to break their playoffs jinx, they continue to play with 110% effort and determination. Recently there have been a number of changes in the staff and administration as the Kings take a serious look as to how they can look to a championship win this season.

Come cheer on the Kings when they take to the ice- get to your online ticket vendor today and order your tickets to see the Los Angeles Kings.
