The Phoenix Coyotes are a tremendously popular and professional ice hockey team based at the Phoenix suburb of Glendale. The team is a major player in the National Hockey League (NHL). The coyotes were founded in the year 1972 at the World Hockey Association (they were then known as the Winnipeg Jets). The phoenix coyotes joined the NHL in the 1979-80 seasons. The team's home Arena is named the Glendale Arena and its former home arena was America West Arena (from year 1996 to 2004). The team sports a home uniform of Brick red with white stripes and numbers and also lace up neck. While playing away the uniform modifies to white with brick red stripes and numbers and a modified V neck. The official mascot for the team is Howler the Coyote. The main rivals for the team are considered to be Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings, Dallas Stars, and San Jose Sharks.

When the team began playing as the Winnipeg Jets in WHA (World Hockey Association), they were the most successful team in this short lived WHA. The team won three Avco Cups, and also the league's championship trophy. The team had a record of making to the finals five out of the WHA's seven seasons. Later it became one of the four teams admitted to the NHL at the time when the rival leagues merged in the year 1979.

However, the club was not very successful after their merger in the NHL. However the club enjoyed a very strong fan support, but there was not much profit due to large costs. In the year 1996, the club moved to Arizona and renamed themselves as the Phoenix Coyotes.

Some of the most impressive young players in the club were Shane Doan (who was the last remaining original Coyote), goal keeper Nikolai Khabibulin, who was arguably the most admired player in the whole Coyotes history, and he was nicknamed as the "Bulin Wall" by his fans.

The Coyotes were a hot property in Phoenix in the late 1990s, and commanded a superb attendance. However, the America West Arena shortly proved to be an insufficient kind of location for a now bigger team of NHL. After all attempts failed either to renovate the America West or to build an arena in Scottsdale, the Coyotes made the Glendale Arena. They moved into it in the year 2003. Also at the same time the Coyotes changed both their logo and uniforms, giving in to some hockey purists, but in the process disappointed many Coyotes fans.

The team has won till date two major awards and trophies namely, the Jack Adams Award and the Bob Francis trophy. Apart from these there are many more individual laurels to boast of. It is invariable for any hockey fan to see this team's all matches, so book your tickets now! Also you can book your tickets online.
