Hockey started auspiciously in the St. Louis club in the season 1967-68. The Blues incidentally were the best and skilled of the NHL's six major expansion teams, regularly playing a much disciplined defensive game which allowed them to constantly outperform nearly every other fledgling franchise. The illustrious Blues has enjoyed considerable team success, too, successfully reaching the finals of NHL Cup in the very first three seasons during their expansion bracket. From the year 1979 through the season of 2002-03, the reputed club has regularly reached the level of playoffs more than 24 times in a row. However the team still constantly seeks its coveted first Stanley Cup title after a gap of 36 seasons. The illustrious franchise has also been quite scarred by tragedies. The talented young defenseman Bobby Gassoff was unfortunately killed in a tragic motorcycle crash just after attending a team function. Also popular broadcaster Dan Kelly eventually lost his battle with the disease of cancer while being still in his prime. Also Barclay Plager too succumbed to brain tumors while he was serving in the role of an assistant coach.
The die hard fans of Blues expect them to perform really well this season. So do get tickets for the matches early and enjoy their mesmerizing display of hockey.
