In the year 1945 the reputed Pacific Coast Hockey League went on to establish an ice hockey franchise primarily in the city of Vancouver. They came to be known as the Canucks and rather immediately enjoyed major success by successfully winning PCHL championships in their very first appearance in the year 1946 and then again in their third year of existence in 1948. In the year 1952, the PCHL happened to merge with the reputed Western Canada Senior Hockey League in order to form the prestigious professional Western Hockey League. In the year 1965, when the NHL publicly announced plans to quickly expand to six additional markets, the visionary owner of the WHL's Canucks the legendary Fred Hume announced outright that the city of Vancouver definitely would apply.
However their application was rejected. Nevertheless, the splendid Pacific Coliseum, which originally was proposed to be the very first home for the prospective Vancouver NHL team, was magnificently built. In the year 1970, another Vancouver ownership bought the Canucks over and thereafter much negotiating; they managed to join the NHL for the large price of $6 million. The talented Canucks were in the year 1975 Smythe division champions, but generally were mediocre for the initial decade of their existence, which saw them missing the playoffs more than 5 times. After a quite decent regular season, the Canucks incidentally became the true Cinderella story of the 1982 competitive playoffs and successfully made it all the way right up to the Stanley Cup Finals which was for the very first time in franchise history. The 1990's saw the Canucks rising to prominence under the able guidance of a charismatic new general manager named Pat Quinn. Led by talented players such as likes of Trevor Linden, Kirk McLean the famed Canucks soon won two consecutive reputed division titles in the year 1992 and then again in the year 1993. In the year 1994, the Canucks again made another exciting trip to the finals, while entering that year's playoffs ranked as the seventh seed in the entire Western Conference. After the illustrious Canucks' incredible run in 1994 season, Vancouver still continued to be a potent force for the next two seasons.
The fans of Vancouver Canucks are looking forward to a brilliant performance from their team this season. So do get your tickets early and enjoy some splendid hockey from the Canucks.
