The famed Washington Capitals are a reputed professional ice hockey which is based in the city of Washington, D.C. They primarily play in the prestigious National Hockey League (NHL). They are currently a prominent force in the NHL and have a dedicated fan following. So if you wish to catch them live in action; do remember to book your tickets online in advance.
The initial years of Washington Capitals were a difficult period for the club since it failed to win most matches. In their very first season, the Capitals would unfortunately set an NHL record for a high degree f futility, apparently losing 67 of 80 games, and just winning one on the road. The team was not able to fare much better through the entire of the 1970s and even during early 80's. However things soon changed for better. The team hired the then 33-year old charismatic David Poile as General Manager. He single-handedly changed the fortune of the franchise. The team during their run in the 1982-83 NHL season managed to reach the playoffs for the very first time. Some of the credit of this performance can be credited by the explosive goal scoring ability of Dennis Maruk, and the likes of Mike Gartner, and Bobby Carpenter. The illustrious Caps would then make the playoffs stage for each of the 14 years thereafter in a row, but unfortunately every time it ended in heartbreak. During the late 1980s, the Capitals, definitely always happened to be a contender in the popular regular season, however they could never really shake off their sad reputation for being "chokers". Even after a continuous march of great stars like Gartner, Carpenter, and the likes of Mike Ridley, Dave Christian along with skilled players like of Dino Ciccarelli, Rod Langway, just only once in that period did the team actually got past the second round stage of the playoffs.
The Capitals were able to finally take a step to actually getting rid of their original choker image in the year 1998. The remarkable Peter Bondra's 52 goals performance led the team, along with veterans like Juneau and Adam Oates returned to their splendid form. The Caps managed to get past the Bruins, the powerful Ottawa Senators, and even the Buffalo Sabres while en route to the team's first appearance in Stanley Cup finals.
Washington's famous logo which has two hockey sticks apparently crossed behind the striking image of the famed United States Capitol, with bright stars flanking it along with a hockey puck virtually at the front is a remarkable emblem. The Caps have lot of dedicated fans who are looking towards the team for giving a great performance this season. So do get your tickets early and enjoy some superb hockey from the Caps.
