The Berenstain Bears are folks of fictional bears. They have appeared children's books authored by Stan and Jan Berenstain.Their family has Papa Bear (the carpenter) Mama Bear (homemaker wife) and their siblings Brother Bear, Sister Bear, and little sister Honey Bear. The characters came due to the effort of Berenstains to lessen the burden of study of their sons Leo and Mike. The parents thought a book that would help in enjoying learning alongside study. First, came "The Big Honey Hunt". It was published in 1962. The bears consisted of Mama, Papa, and the son Small Bear. The1974 "The Berenstain Bears and the New Baby" introduced the daughter, Sister Bear. The Small Bear became Brother Bear. Baby sister Honey was added in 2000.The Bears live in a fictional Bear Country. They have relatives like Too-Tall Grizzly, Queenie McBear, Cousin Fred, Lizzy Bruin, Bonnie Brown, a model, Raffish Ralph and Professor Actual Factual Bear.They have been caste in many stories (both chapter book and picture book format), edutainment software and animated series. New stories have added a villain, Archweasle McGreed, hell bent on taking over Bear Country lock, stock, and honey pot.
