Chita Rivera has been known as one of the most loveable performers on the prestigious Broadway for more than half a century. This sensational star recently starred in hugely hit musical "The Visit at the Goodman Theater" which was very well directed by Webb and Kander in Chicago. Chita Rivera has won the hugely popular Tony Award for "The Rink" and then "Kiss of the Spider Woman." She has consistently adorned the beautiful Broadway with Shinbone Alley and Bajour, Mr. Wonderful; Can-Can. Chita Rivera has been on various touring performances like the popular Sweet Charity and Pippin. This great star has also received the prestigious Kennedy Center Honor in 2002.
This new sensational musical, "Chita Rivera: The Dancer's Life," is a very good effort to celebrate the life and very illustrious career of Chita Rivera. Her musical oeuvre includes The Rink, West Side Story, Chicago, Bye Bye Birdie, Kiss of the Spider Woman, and Bajour among other major hits. She is a part of well defined cast with other ten members. The other famous members of this cast are Edgard Gallardo, Lloyd Cullbreath, Cleve Asbury, Malinda Farrington, Richard Amaro, Deidre Goodwin, and Madeleine Ehlert among others.
This superb show showcases the full view of a time travel to some of her breathtaking performances. The play features soothing songs by Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty. Chita Rivera is known for her eloquent body language that is the most important aspect of her dancing sequences. Her majestic blissful, jazzy riff in hugely popular moves makes the audience hold their breath.
This incredible show has premiered on September 10, 2005; at the famous Old Globe Theater in San Diego. This great show is beautifully summarized as a great effort and a "tour through famous numbers in the prestigious American musical theater." The talented team of choreographers includes Jerome Robbins, Bob Fosse and Graciela Daniele. This dancing joyride includes her best dance numbers like "America" from the West Side Story, "Dance at the Gym." And some of her memorable numbers like "Bye, Bye Birdie" and "Shriner's Ballet."
The show is going to prove as an enthralling as the superb outings of the actress. The show is conceived by Terrence McNally and very well choreographed and directed by Graciela Daniele. Superb original songs are contributed by Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens; orchestrations are very well contributed by Danny Troob. The musical score is contributed by Mark Hummel that comprises music direction, arrangements and musical concepts. The beautiful sets are designed by Loy Arcenas and all the stylish costumes are designed by Toni-Leslie James. Breathtaking lighting is contributed by Peggy Eisenhauer and Jules Fisher.
