Forbidden Broadway: Special Victims Unit, is a new installment of huge satire and aim at variety of targets including the:" Thoroughly Modern Millie," "Wicked," "Assassins," "Nicole Kidman," "Hugh Jackman," and more. This revamped superb version of Forbidden Broadway: Special Victims Unit will include some new and sensational jabs at La Cage aux Folles' Robert Goulet, Sweet Charity's Christina Applegate, Who's Afraid of Virginia Wools's famous Kathleen Turner and Doubt's Cherry Jones. This huge edition of Forbidden Broadway pokes severe fun at such Broadway shows as Avenue Q, All Shook Up, Mamma Mia, Wicked, and Good Vibrations. The show has been serving up its well praised and accepted witty parodies of the Broadway scene for more than two decades. The show aims at other famous shows like Dracula, Assassins, I am my own wife, Bombay Dreams, Wicked and others. The exceptional creator of this show is Gerard Alessandrini; who continuously updates this hugely popular show. The creative team of this show includes Alvin Colt as a costume designer, Philip George as a co-director, Megan K. Halpern as a set designer and Marc Janowitz as a lighting designer. The well defined cast includes: Jason Mills, Jennifer Simard, James Sasser and Megan Elizabeth Lewis.
Alvin Colt who has been designing the costumes for the show has given some of the best satirical costumes. According to some known critics this "brand-new" edition has been rated as more funnier and fresher than others. The last show couldn't receive many encouraging reviews because of the repeats of some familiar skits and references. This edition is freshened up with new satirical costumes and by having an amazing foursome to superbly carry off the songs with superb sight gags well adapted with the optimum flow of the show. The emphasis continues to be on musicals.
This time the standout routine is fast two-in-one take on famous Cherry Jones' Sister, known as Aloysius and Kathleen Turner's Martha. One of the current cast's very good and brightest comic divas is excellent Jeanne Montano's Turner. The superb song turns into a riotous song and then into an amazing laughter ride. Christine Pedi, has also shown her rare theatrical skills. Gerard Alessandrini has been showcasing this incredible show since 1982. He has shown great skills with plenty of fresh fodder to this new edition.
There are two dozen songs in the show and because of these amazing tracks Gerard manages to skewer everything from Tony Awards to Brooke Shields in Chicago. The show includes very good tracks like "You Gotta Have a Gimmic" from Gypsy, and "Sung to the tune of." The show has been performing at the 47th Street Theatre that is located in Manhattan.
