Garden Bros. Circus The Entertainment Giant is running for the last seven years with full charm among children of all ages. It was formed in Toronto, Ontario, Canada in 1938 by Scottish brothers William A. Garden and Robert Garden. With stepping the stairs of success, Garden Bros. Circus The Entertainment Giant! has made many firsts of it own. This circus has innovated circus performances in hockey arenas. Not only this but it is distinguished for being the first circus to perform in the northern regions of Canada where roads had yet to be built. The initiative was taken by Ian Garden for this grand show. In 1949, Ian joined the circus as an equestrian. He performed many animal acts for several years. Together with his friend and business partner B. Elliot Abells, Ian showcased his talent from around the world. His round the world performances made Garden Bros. Circus The Entertainment Giant! an international success with shows in Canada, the United States and Bermuda.
Today the circus is controlled by Ian's sons, Ian Jr. and Richard who showed their interest at a very young age. They used to run away and join the circus every summer. After their education they joined the circus full time and got trained by their father and B. Elliot Abells. As a result they have successfully made the transition from the spotlight of center ring to the daily challenges of being the circus' owners and operators.
Ian Jr. and Richard are distinguished to be the youngest owners and third generation family operators of the largest three-ring indoor circus in North America. Garden Bros. Circus is famous for showcasing talent from around the world. It has traveled from the Pacific to the Atlantic Ocean, visiting Vancouver and credited for being the first circus ever to perform in Labrador. Garden Bros. Circus is now the only circus in the world which regularly visits this island Bermuda.
One of the producer Ian Garden Jr. was brought up living and working in the circus. Beginning his circus debut at an age of eight years in a low-wire act , he had been tickling funny bones as a clown in the circus. Along with his interest in circus, Ian valued his education too. By 1985, he was mastered in performing various animal acts and nurtured a natural flair as Ringmaster. He explored how to make the audience cheer for more.
In 1985, he started producing shows every year. He worked on a campaign for the removal of exotic animal ban in Toronto in which he overturned the ban performing in the circus in April 1993. Ian got famous as "Walt Disney" for creating the animals that people wanted. He was nicknamed for his creative and imaginative ideas. He is always in search for "never-seen-before" acts. He credits Garden Bros. Circus' success in presenting a new heart-stopping, high flying, belly-laughing, spine-tingling family spectacular show every season.
The Vice-President and Secretary/Treasurer of Garden Bros. Circus, Richard contributed to a large extent in making the show a world class circus. His debut act in circus per performed at the age of nine. He started his career in circus after a small break when his friend, Mike Winn needed a partner for his high wire act. However, Richard was much more than just a high-flying thrill seeker. Some of the largest cheers came when he was dressed as Tarzan and paraded through the streets of Mexico alongside panthers and elephants.
Richard's varied backstage education was as important as his performing. He learned how to drive a tractor trailer truck when he was only 12 years old. In that same year, he worked as an assistant to the tour manager. Richard assisted in the box office, counting cash and calculating the payroll. Even when he was performing full-time, Richard did not stop learning about the work behind-the-scenes. Richard worked as an assistant superintendent at the age of 22 and was responsible for setting up the equipment and repacking everything into the trucks in order to move on to the next town. No matter what act or circus he worked with, Richard always wanted to know as much as he could about the circus business. Along with the ongoing daily duties in the office, Richard performs like a ringmaster keeping the Garden Bros. Circus performing at full capacity.
Like always, Garden Bros. Circus has come with a new, creative and thrilling acts at their all new super sensational 69th Annual Edition. With this show, they continue the tradition of featuring heart stopping high flying action, awesome animals, long lasting ludicrous lampoonery and two hours of good clean fun the whole family can enjoy.
