The Vandalays The Vandalays were formerly The Quick. As that band they put out several EP’s. Both very good with the last, Mr. Deelish, done with Power Pop Godfather Jeff Murphy of Shoes producing several of the songs and adding backing vocals.

Their reconstitution as The Vandalays finds them back into the fray with one of the best CD's so far this year. (re) begin is dubbed by the band as "The World's First Power Pop Concept Album." Arguable but nonetheless a really good piece of the genre they seem to know so well.

The album itself is a story about a guy named Rick and his friend Jen. Rick is slowly realizing that he can no longer go through life in the manner that he has. Like any good friend, Jen tries to help him out. After hitting rock bottom Rick has an epiphany of sorts. He reassesses his life and the people in it. Rick discovers that what he has isn’t quite that bad and decides to (re) begin rather than try to start from scratch.

As musicians these guys have consistently put out good stuff. With (re)begin The Vandalays have really taken their music to a new level and may finally get the recognition they deserve.
